Our story

Why we
made this.

Taking its name from the courtyard where it lives, Yardy Yardy doubles down on one feeling — belonging. It's an unhurried, drop-by-anytime market that feels like a neighbourhood living room, not a commercial space.

What we believe

A yard to belong to.

We keep it small-scaled on purpose, so there's room to slow down — to notice the small beautiful things a city glosses over, to talk to the person who made the thing in your hands, to take your time.

We hope to be a launchpad for emerging creators: connecting budding local artisans and visiting makers with a community that values craft, in open-air venues and cosy cafe courtyards across Singapore.

Why we slow down

Stop, and look.

Modern life moves fast, blurring the edges of our days. But pause, and the city shows its unscripted side: bougainvillea tumbling over a brick wall you've passed a hundred times, a tree branching out against all logic, otters playing in the river, a chicken strolling the pavement, indifferent to human urgency.

The little things aren't missing. We just have to stop and look. We wanted a space where we can slow down and start noticing them again — a quiet haven, warm and comfortable, built for lingering, for taking a breath, and for letting the day carry you. That's Yardy Yardy.

Our thinking

Low fees.
Small on purpose.

Space in Singapore is expensive. A lot of independent makers who pour their hearts into work they love can't afford the entry fee to show it. And makers from beyond Singapore need somewhere genuinely creative to present theirs, too.

So we're doing something, step by step. Keep booth fees low, as a way in. Keep the market small enough to fully immerse in. Put the work into everyday settings, like a cafe courtyard. The goal is simple: a trusted platform people and makers keep coming back to. Same yard or another, different market, same feeling. Vol. 01 is the test — if it works, we'll keep going.

The location

Chye Seng Huat
Hardware.

Jalan Besar — "main road" in Malay — grew up on trades: small workshops, hardware, metalwork. The kind of businesses that kept the city running but were rarely remembered. Chye Seng Huat Hardware was one of them.

The old signboard still hangs. The steel, the concrete, the courtyard where the trees grow haywire — all of it stayed. You walk in under a hardware store's name and find yourself in one of Singapore's most respected coffee roasters. Nothing was smoothed over; only what they sell has changed.

Singapore rebuilds fast. Not this corner. Under its cool, breezy trees, there's a little peace and time. That's why we're doing this here.

Come be part of it.

Vol. 02 runs 15–17 January 2027 at Chye Seng Huat Hardware. Come sit for a while — or bring your own work.
